Texas Travel Alliance Awards Legislative Champions at 2023 Texas Travel Industry Unity Dinner (Austin, TX), February 24, 2023 – The Texas Travel Alliance celebrated the strength and unity of the Travel Industry in Texas at the 33rd Annual Texas Travel Unity Dinner, held in Austin, TX on February 15, 2023. The program featured a keynote address by Secretary of State Jane Nelson, and Legislative Champion Awards were presented to Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham and Representative Justin Holland. TTA President & CEO Erika Boyd said, “It was an honor to hear from Secretary of State Jane Nelson and to award the Legislative Champion Awards to two legislators who are such strong supporters and advocates for Travel & Tourism. We will continue to work with Secretary Nelson, Commissioner Buckingham, and Representative Holland, as well as other legislators to promote travel and tourism and maintain Texas as a destination of choice.” TTA’s Unity Dinner was held at the Austin Convention Center in Austin, TX on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 where more than 600 Travel industry leaders from across the state, including state legislators, mayors, and city council members were in attendance for the annual event. Secretary Jane Nelson addressed the crowd and discussed her role as Secretary of State and the importance of tourism to the Texas economy. Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham and Representative Justin Holland were awarded the Texas Travel Industry Legislative Champion Awards for their support and contributions to the third largest industry in Texas. Travel and Tourism employs over 1.1 million Texans in more than 60,000 businesses working to make Travel and Tourism the third largest export industry in Texas. Travelers to Texas helped to create over $7.6 billion in state and local tax revenues, offsetting the individual tax burdens of Texans by more than $555 saved per household. -END- The Texas Travel Alliance is the primary advocate and voice for the travel industry in Texas.
