  Texas Travel by the Numbers Travel is a leading industry in Texas that also helps all other business sectors thrive. From energy to manufacturing to biotechnology, businesses can't run without the hotels, restaurants, and transportation services our industry provides. In 2023, the travel industry had a $193 billion impact on the Texas economy. That's a huge number, second only to energy and manufacturing. And travel and tourism are a driving factor in the Texas workforce, with more than 1.3 million jobs across the coninuum from entry to executive level. Additionally, travelers to and within Texas spent $94.8 billion in 2023, generating $9 billion in state and local taxes. A growing travel and tourism industry means more tax dollars to support important public services like education and other community initiatives that benefit local residents.
