TTA Awards Legislative Champion Award at the 35th Annual Texas Travel Industry Unity Dinner

Austin, TX – February 20, 2024 – The Texas Travel Alliance (TTA) proudly hosted the 35th annual Texas Travel Industry Unity Dinner at the Austin Convention Center in Austin, TX. This prestigious event brought together more than 500 industry leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders to celebrate the achievements and future of Texas travel and tourism.

 

During the event, TTA honored Representative Barbara Gervin-Hawkins with the TTA Legislative Champion Award for her outstanding contributions and unwavering support for the travel industry in Texas. Her dedication to promoting tourism and advocating for policies that benefit the industry has made a significant impact.

The evening featured a keynote address by Adam Sacks, President of Tourism Economics, who shared valuable insights on the economic trends and future outlook of the travel industry. His expertise provided attendees with a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

 

Erika Boyd, President & CEO of TTA, expressed her gratitude and excitement for the event, stating, "The Texas Travel Industry Unity Dinner is a testament to the strength and economic impact of our industry. Travel and Tourism employs over 1.3 million Texans working to make Travel and Tourism the third largest export industry in Texas. Travelers to Texas generated $193.8 billion in economic impact to the Texas economy, creating over $9 billion in state and local tax revenues, offsetting the individual tax burdens of Texans by more than $836 per household.
