The Texas Travel Alliance Announces the

2023 “Best of Texas” Award Winners

(Austin, TX) April 24, 2023 For the past 46 years, the Texas Travel Alliance (TTA) has sponsored a Study Tour for the state’s travel counselors. During the study tour, the Counselors travel on a 5-day whirlwind bus tour to visit Texas cities, attractions, museums, parks, cultural centers, historical locations, and restaurants. They are on and off the bus dozens of times per day to get a sample of what Texas has to offer its visitors.

The knowledge attendees gain on this tour is taken back to coworkers and shared with millions of annual visitors. About 25 years ago, TTA introduced the “Best of Texas” awards, which are presented to a selected few of the Study Tour hosts. The counselors vote on who they think are the best in several categories.

“Travel and tourism are so important to our state and to local communities and we are thrilled to highlight individuals and businesses who represent the best of the best and help our visitors have great experiences as they explore”, said Erika Boyd, president & CEO of Texas Travel Alliance.

The 2023 “Best of Texas” award winners, which were selected from the Greater Houston area this year, are:

  • Best Breakfast – Table of Grace, Clute (Brazosport)
  • Best Lunch – Seahorse Bar & Grill, Surfside Beach (Brazosport)
  • Best Dinner – Killen’s BBQ, Pearland
  • Best Attraction – Texas Renaissance Festival Grounds
  • Best Step-On Guide (Tie)

Travel and Tourism employs over 1.1 million Texans in more than 60,000 businesses working to make Travel and Tourism the third largest export industry in Texas. Travelers to Texas helped to create over $7.6 billion in state and local tax revenues, offsetting the individual tax burdens of Texans by more than $555 saved per household.
