The Sports Tourism Index is a tool that has been developed to help destinations evaluate their position in the sports tourism market in three areas:
Analyze the strengths of your community as a host destination for sporting events.
Identify areas of opportunity as a sports tourism community.
Determine your destination's standing relative to its competitive set.
What is the Sports Tourism Index?
The Sports Tourism Index© consists of two parts:
Analysis
Built with the input of numerous sports tourism leaders and rights holders,
the analysis utilizes national best practices in four measurement areas:
Destinations are provided the Analysis summarizing the organization's score across the four areas of measurement, each consisting of 25 points.
Scout
Scout empowers destinations and event organizers with a two-way "match-making" platform driven by data and technology.
Scout gives your organization access to the searchable facility and event database with numerous filters including, but not limited to, event date, facility type, and desired geographic region. Organizations can identify precise matches that fit their needs and assets, increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of the event hosting process.
Access
With three access options, the Sports Tourism Index takes an in-depth look at your community, benchmarks your destination versus your competitors, and provides access to Scout.

Provides an outline of the destination's score across the four measurement areas with high-level recommendations and a comparison to industry averages. | Provides everything included with Free Access along with a comprehensive study across the four measurement areas. The destination will have the opportunity to earn Sports Tourism Index Designations for the four measurement areas and each facility submitted. | Provides all levels of access along with Scout. Scout empowers organizations the ability to identify events or facilities that align with your destination and the organization's assets. |
